Central Florida Foundation Offers Video Grant Applications for First Time; Invests $50,000 into 10 Local Grassroots Nonprofits

Orlando, Fla. – July 17, 2023 – Central Florida Foundation (CFF) offered grant applicants the ability to apply for a grant by video for the first time ever as a part of an ongoing effort to break down barriers for nonprofits without the capacity of a professional grant writer. This is CFF’s latest stride toward nonprofit equity through its Thrive framework under the Community & Social Connection focus area.

With 73 applicants, CFF received a mixture of written, video and combination grant applications for the 2023 Grassroots Grant cycle. Eligibility stipulated that organizations must have an annual revenue of less than $250,000, ensuring these grants were awarded to the “small but mighty” nonprofit community.

“Not everyone has access to professional grant writers, but that doesn’t mean their work is any less important,” says Sandi Vidal, Vice President of Community Strategies and Initiatives at the Foundation. “Opening up video applications takes down one more barrier for smaller nonprofits accessing the necessary funds to continue their work in making Central Florida an even better place to call home.”

Ten local nonprofits were selected as this year’s Grassroots grantees, with funds being used for general operations, with a total community investment of $50,000.
