28 Local Nonprofits Awarded $1.5 Million in Grants from Austin Russell and Central Florida Foundation’s October Commitment

Orlando, Fla. – December 29, 2022 – Twenty-eight (28) local nonprofits have been awarded $1.5 million in grants from Austin Russell’s AKR Foundation Fund at Central Florida Foundation (CFF).

The grants are a result of Russell and CFF’s October commitment, with nonprofits chosen based on recovery needs, disaster resilience and readiness, as well as general positive impact opportunity for the Central Florida community. Each grant is structured as general support funding; grantees can utilize these dollars in the most optimal way for their nonprofit’s unique situation.

“I’m very much looking forward to seeing the positive impact of helping the front lines of our Orlando community,” said Russell, Founder and CEO of Luminar, a leading global automotive technology company. “It’s been an intensive process to efficiently and effectively support over two dozen local organizations following the hurricane, and I can certainly credit the Central Florida Foundation with performing the diligence and the knowledge needed to make this happen by the holidays. Wishing all of the grantees and Orlando a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!”
