Community Investments for Minority-Led Nonprofits

The Board of Directors of the Central Florida Foundation (CFF) has approved nearly $61,000 of investments in minority-led organizations with annual operating budgets under $200,000. Most of the organization are led by local Black community leaders, with others representing the local Hispanic, Asian and Muslim communities.

In addition to the monetary investment, each organization has voluntarily agreed to participate in a cohort to learn from peers and experts in the nonprofit field, and each organization has received a membership to the Edyth Bush Institute for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at Rollins College (EBI). This membership provides access to educational courses, training and networking tailored to the development of nonprofit organizations and leaders.

In the grant process, a committee of local BIPOC volunteer leaders used Nonprofit Search to learn more about minority-led organization serving Central Florida. A short and simple application was sent to the nonprofits who were identified and then after evaluating them the committee made grant recommendations to the Central Florida Foundation Board of Directors.
