We recently had the opportunity to get to know one of 100 Women Strong’s members, Garima Shah. Learn more about her from our conversation below.

Garima is the Chief Business Development Officer at Direct Connect LLC, headquartered in the District of Columbia area. At Direct Connect, a provider of payment products and services, Garima is responsible for identifying and procuring the acquisition of independent sales organizations, as well as directing this division of entrepreneurial spirited professionals. She’s also the director of the company’s training and mentoring program and can often be found coaching ambitious juniors. Garima’s charismatic leadership serves her as well in the board room as it does in her humanitarian endeavors. She’s served on the board of Shepherd’s Hope since 2016, but has been an active supporter of their cause since 2013. Garima enjoys competitive dance with C-Studios and has even danced for a cause when she placed 3rd in Dancing with Central Florida to benefit KLD Kids. Some of the other local causes dear to Garima are IndiaFest Brevard, Matthew’s Hope, Indian American Chamber of Commerce and Rollins College.

She earned her BA from Boston University and her Executive MBA from Rollins College – Crummer Graduate School of Business. Garima and her husband have two young daughters. They all enjoy traveling and try to squeeze in as much globetrotting as their busy schedules permit.

What was your driving force to join?

Avani…LOL! When I came to a new member meeting, I was so enthused by the idea of tackling source level problems in our area. We all want to help and often end up just throwing money at problems, but actually being in a room and strategically thinking and solving problems is so needed and not done in enough.

Where would you like to see 100 Women Strong in 5 years?

I would love to see this group grow well beyond 100 women, maybe even 1000 women.

What kind of impact do you think the group can have?

The impact is beyond words. If we are able to better our community by solving issues at the source, we cannot just help financially for the short-term but maybe even eradicate the problem.

Tell us about you and your family?

My husband and I live in Winter Garden and we have two young daughters. We love to travel and also explore Orlando’s hidden gems.

What do you like to do for fun?

I love to dance, read and travel with my family.

Thank you Garima! Learn more on how you can join other like-minded women like Garima in giving back to the community.
